4. Does the dishwasher connect to hot or cold water, or both?
Most machines will connect either to hot or to cold water (some do both). If it's connected to hot water-only, you won't have the flexibility for running a cold cycle (say, to rinse dishes if they're not to be washed immediately) but you can use 'off-peak' heated water. Connecting to cold water-only means the water has to be heated to wash the dishes, but does allow for more options - e.g. a cold rinse, and warm or hot washes and rinses.
