1. Why buy a flat screen tv?
For a large screen size, flat screen televisions take up less space and weigh a lot less than ordinary televisions. They also reduce image distortion because the image is flat, not convex.
Check that the flat screen television you're going to buy can pick up the new (higher quality) digital tv signals without the assistance of a set top box. However, note that some stations in some areas may still only transmit the old (analogue) signal, so having an analogue tuner in addition to the digital tuner is a plus - just don't get one that is analogue only.
