Plasmas use more power than LCDs, and they run hotter. Include an amount for running costs when comparing prices for televisions. Also, remember that tvs go into standby mode when turned off by the remote, meaning they are still drawing power. To save energy (and money), turn the tv off completely or turn the power off at the wall.
